Soil pollution from untreated sewage system


Soil pollution occurs by soil contamination through substances capable of causing significant changes in its natural structure.

Main causes and consequences

Substances such as garbage, sewage, pesticides and other types of pollutants produced by human action cause serious effects on the environment.

Pollutants deposited on the ground without any control cause contamination of the groundwater (also causing water pollution), produce toxic gases, and cause serious environmental changes, such as acid rain.

Landfill is responsible for the release of a polluting substance that even under the ground, in holes prepared for this purpose, leaks promoting soil contamination.

Another serious problem that occurs in these landfills is the mixing of toxic waste with ordinary waste. This is because there is no separation process of these materials. As a result, the soil receives dangerous and potentially contaminated products mixed with common waste.

The soil has in its composition: air, water, organic and mineral matter. All this structure is what enables the development of the most diverse species of plants we know. It is from the soil that we remove most of our food directly or indirectly, if it is contaminated, certainly our health is at risk.
